Exceptions to the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) Requirement
For most JD candidates applying to US law schools, the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) is required, and it helps facilitate the application process. Under some circumstances, the requirement may be waived:
- If you are a transfer student, we suggest that you contact the law school in which you are interested to verify that the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) is required.
- Some non-ABA-approved law schools do not require the Credential Assembly Service (CAS). Please contact the school for information on application requirements.
- Some internationally-educated students may not need to sign up for the Credential Assembly Service (CAS).
NOTE: For information regarding credential assembly for LLM degree applicants, please see LLM Credential Assembly Service.
